The journal was established in 1981. The titles of the journal were: from 1981 to 1991 – “The Bulletin of Siberian Branch of Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR”; from 1992 to 2014 – “The Bulletin of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences”; from 2015 – “The Siberian Scientific Medical Journal”.
The journal has been issued in compliance with the current law Concerning Mass Media of the RF, the Statues of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Siberian Branch of Medical Sciences”, as well as the regulations of the journal.
The journal was registered with the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media, registration certificate ПИ № ФС77-71824 as of 8 December, 2017. The journal was also registered with the International Center for world periodicals registration; the ISSN number for the printed journal is ISSN 2410-2512, the ISSN number of the electronic journal is ISSN 2410-2520.
The journal is included into “The specification of Russian peer-reviewed journals wherein the main scientific results of thesis for doctor and candidate scientific degrees must be published” and to the Russian Science Citation Index database on the Web of Science platform. The subscription index with Rospechat agency catalogue is 46816. The printed version of the journal is published six times per a year. The identical electronic version is later available on the Web.
DOIs are assigned to all articles in the journal.
The scope of the journal includes original scientific articles and reviews on fundamental problems of medical biological sciences, clinical and preventive medicine, and human ecology; case studies, as well as conference proceedings and information materials. The journal areas of focus are medical, biological, chemical and psychological sciences.
Manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal should be prepared in compliance with Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals adopted in 1997 by International Committee of Medical Journal Editors now known as Vancouver group, updated in February 2006.
The journal is peer reviewed and most of the submitted articles are subject to external peer review.
The current two-year impact factor of the journal according to the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) is 0,369.
