Importance of clinical-hematological, demographic and immunological indicators for prediction of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

Author Affiliations

Abstract

Using a multivariate analysis it is revealed that among patients with asymptomatic chronic lymphocytic leukemia such indicators as gender, ECOG performance status, a number of involved lymph nodes, serum thymidine kinase, the index of NK-cells/CLL cells, the levels of TNF-α and IL-8 in serum are independent predictors of survival, free of treatment. An integrated use of the above mentioned parameters allows stratifying patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia at an early stage of the disease into groups of high, intermediate and low risk, which is the basis for the optimization of a differential approach to the treatment.

Key words

survival, free of treatment, prognostic factors, chronic lymphocytic leukemia
