Influence of combinations of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine gene polymorphisms on the course of chronic purulent otitis media

Author Affiliations

Abstract

The results of occurrence of polymorphism of genotypes inflammatory and anti- inflammatory cytokines IL-1β (С3953Т, Т511С, Т31С), IL-6 (С174G), IL-10 (G1082A, C592A, C819T), and TNF-α (G308A) in 299 patients with chronic purulent otitis media and 183 healthy individuals of Transbaikal region are presented. The high values of IL-1β (19.4 ± 0.23 pg/ml) (p < 0.05) and low numbers of IL-10 (12.5 ± 0.12 pg/ml) (p < 0.05) in carriers of gene high-producing inflammatory cytokines and of allele slow-producing anti-inflammatory cytokines in individuals with caries-destructive course of chronic purulent otitis media have been revealed. The reliable confirmation of IL-6 and TNF-α gene polymorphism aggravating effect on the course of chronic otitis have been received in the study.
