Abstract

Aim: to determine the optimal level of anisometropia in bilateral aphakia correction with monofocal lenses. Material and methods: 126 patients were divided into 4 groups according to the degree of anisometropia from 0.5 to –3.25 diopters. Visual acuity, near and middle distance, contrast sensitivity, visual quality of life and subjective satisfaction were analyzed. Results: high visual acuity values were revealed in all groups; the visual acuity at intermediate distance was significantly higher at anisometropia from 1.25 to 1.75 than in the other groups; near vision was significantly higher in the groups with higher anisometropia.
