Activity of the local inflammatory and proliferative processes in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy

Author Affiliations

Abstract

The determination of the concentrations of vascular endothelial growth factor, interleukin 4, 6 and 17A in the vitreous body of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy has been carried out. It has been found that an activity of local immuno-inflammatory process (increased concentrations of IL-4, IL-6, IL-17A) and vascular proliferation (increased concentrations of vascular endothelial growth factor) play significant role in the pathogenesis of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Revealed correlation interconnections between test characteristics testify to these processes associativity.
