Author Affiliations

Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of spinal cord stimulation for patients with chronic myocardial ischemia. 14 patients were treated within the study framework. Treatment was divided in two stages: the first stage was trial stimulation, and in case of positive result was the second stage – implantation of the permanent stimulation system. The patients pain syndrome decreased by 78.26 % during the annual catamnesis. Also the improvement of the patients life quality to 60.29 % has been revealed. In dynamic 9 patients improved class of heart failure (I and II), in the whole group the myocardial perfusion improved by 3.21 %. Therefore, the spinal cord stimulation not only decreases pain but also improves the functional status of patients with chronic myocardial ischemia.
