Clinical features of inflammation in pregnant women with chronic pyelonephritis in remission

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate content of some cytokines, autoantibodies to antigens of native DNA and trophoblastic β1-glycoprotein in serum of pregnant women with chronic pyelonephritis in remission. The study involved 40 pregnant women in the 3 trimester with chronic pyelonephritis in remission and 15 women with normal pregnancy. The concentrations of IL-4, IL-8, IL-17A, IFNγ, autoantibodies to antigens of native DNA and trophoblastic β1-glycoprotein were measured in blood serum. It is found that chronic pyelonephritis in remission in pregnant women in 3rd trimester characterized by inflammatory activity, as evidenced by the significantly higher concentrations of proinflammatory cytokines IL-17A and IL-8 in blood serum and universal cell destruction marker. It has been shown that the development of the inflammatory process in pregnants of third trimester with chronic pyelonephritis in remission is associated with activation of T-helper-1 mediated immune response, which is manifested by increased concentrations of IFN-γ and the coefficient ratio of IFN-γ / IL-4 in serum. Also, there is decrease in concentrations of the inductor of the T-helper-2-mediated immune response to IL-4 and trophoblastic β1-glycoprotein in serum. These changes are the unfavorable prognostic factor, as far as they can lead to placental insufficiency, premature birth, and increase the risk of intrauterine infection.
