Impact of the polymorphism –344T/C of aldosteron synthase gene on components of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and heart rate variability in pregnant women with preeclampsia

Abstract

The renin activity, aldosterone concentration and heart rate variability in 124 women with preeclampsia and 72 with normal course of pregnancy depending on polymorphism –344 T/C of aldosterone synthase gene (CYP11B2) were studied. The aldosterone concentration was signifi cantly higher in TT and TC genotypes carriers compared to homozygous for the С allele in both groups of women. The reduction of vagal modulation of heart rate and sympathovagal balance shifting towards a higher sympathetic modulation in healthy pregnant women associated with genotype СС. Individuals with preeclampsia who are TT and TC genotypes carriers have the most attenuated autonomic reactivity in the low frequency band of cardiac rhythm spectrum.
